May 22nd to July 21st - OCDA 2017 Spring Trial Attorney Partnership (TAP) program
The Orange County District Attorney's Office ("OCDA") is now accepting resumes for the 2017 Spring Trial Attorney Partnership (TAP) program. The training and eight week court assignment is scheduled for May 22 - July 21. This training is specifically designed to meet the needs of their TAP attorneys and to ensure their successful experience in conducting preliminary hearings and jury trials.
Since its inception in 2003, the TAP program has been providing attorneys from civil law firms the opportunity to gain court trial experience while saving millions in taxpayer dollars and increasing the Office's ability to handle large caseloads and to better serve the public.
The opportunity to volunteer as a TAP attorney is limited to those attorneys who have not previously participated in TAP. All who are interested are encouraged to contact Todd Hart, Director, Government & Community Relations, at your earliest convenience to secure your place. June 1st Deadline - Seeking Applications for Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference Lawyer Representatives

The United States District Court, Central District of California, is currently accepting applications from qualified individuals interested in serving as Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference Lawyer Representatives. The selected Lawyer Representatives will be representative of the entire district and reflect the diversity of lawyers practicing before the Court. Interested persons should complete the application, which can be found on the Court's website under the Lawyer Representatives section located in the "Attorneys" tab of the Court's homepage. Additional information about serving as a Lawyer Representative can be found on the 9th Circuit's website.

June 3rd - OCKABA Pro Bono Clinic with KAF

OC KABA will hold a pro bono clinic in collaboration with the Korean American Federation and Orange County ("KAF") on June 3rd from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Volunteer attorneys provide 30 minute consultation for various legal matters such as immigration, estate planning, landlord-tenant and/or family law issues. Appointments by clients are required, and volunteer attorneys will attend if there are appointments.

NEW - June 23rd Deadline - Judicial Council State Bar Appointment Application

The Judicial Council is the constitutionally created policy making body of the California courts, the largest court system in the nation. Under the leadership of the Chief Justice and in accordance with the California Constitution, the council is responsible for ensuring the consistent, independent, impartial and accessible administration of justice. Judicial Council staff implements the council's policies.

In 2017, the State Bar has one appointment to the Judicial Council for a three-year term beginning Sept. 15, 2017, and ending Sept. 14, 2020. The new council member will be expected to attend an orientation to be held in conjunction with the council's August 2017 meeting.

Deadline for 2017 applications:  June 23, 2017
2017-18 term begins: Sept. 15, 2017
