LGBTQ Law & Policy Position at UCLA's Williams Institute

The Institute’s Federal Policy Director will conduct policy-related work and research in the field of sexual orientation and gender identity law and public policy. The Federal Policy Director will be an experienced attorney or legal scholar with substantial public policy experience, legislative lawyering, and/or litigation experience. The director will provide legal research and analysis related to litigation, legislation, and policy developments concerning issues of sexual orientation and gender identity, with a focus on federal policy. The Williams Institute does not engage in litigation but files amicus briefs in key court cases.  

We are looking for a lawyer with at least five years of relevant work experience who has a deep knowledge of law and policy related to sexual orientation and gender identity and a commitment to LGBTQ issues. The successful candidate must have stellar analytical and oral and written communications skills and be able to work autonomously and take initiative in undertaking projects to respond to fast-breaking legal and policy developments. An understanding of social science research is a plus.  The position can be based in Los Angeles or DC.
