Manning Kass is a national civil litigation defense firm that stands out from the rest—every case and client matters. Established in 1994 with just sixteen attorneys, we have expanded over the past thirty years to more than 170 attorneys across eight offices, including major economic hubs like New York and Los Angeles.
We are seeking an Associate with at least two years of civil litigation experience, to join our Governmental Entity Team/ Police Team. This specialized Team is known for representing public entities in a variety of cases, including dangerous condition claims, educational law, and law enforcement officer liability matters.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Must be comfortable handling all aspects of discovery, including propounding and responding to discovery, drafting and arguing motions, and taking and defending depositions.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting to clients while ensuring compliance with their case management requirements.
- Evaluate, analyze, and implement effective litigation strategies.
- Proactively manage and maintain clear communication with clients throughout the litigation process.
Qualifications: A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree is required, along with active membership in the California State Bar in good standing. Prior law enforcement and/or military experience is a plus, but not required, and criminal defense experience is also welcomed but not necessary. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional verbal and written communication and advocacy skills, as well as strong time management abilities with a proven capacity to manage and meet deadlines.
Locations (California): Los Angeles, Costa Mesa, Inland Empire, and San Francisco.
Annual salary with benefits: $125,000 - $180,000.
