    The California Law Revision Commission is now accepting applications for the position of Executive Director. The position has overall responsibility for managing the agency and for performing and directing high-level legal work in support of the Commission’s law reform studies.
     
    Must reside in California, have active membership in the California State Bar, and have a minimum of 10 years legal work experience. Legislative and/or policy experience is strongly desired. Knowledge of antitrust law is a plus.
     
    Salary is $12,679 - $15,101 monthly, with full State of California benefits (including CalPers retirement).

    The Department of Child Support Services is recruiting for three Deputy Child Support Attorney I positions, two in Riverside and one in Indio.

    The selected candidate will appear in court on matters related to establishing, modifying, or enforcing child support. The incumbent is also responsible for conducting interviews with relevant parties before hearing dates to resolve or narrow legal issues, providing direction to paralegals, and advising and training staff on matters related to child support law and appropriate actions to take in a case. Additionally, the incumbent will provide guidance policies and procedures to ensure they are consistent with legal requirements; participate in statewide training, conferences, and/or work groups; collaborate with colleagues to advance the department's mission. May need to travel throughout the county as needed. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.

    The Christopher M. Patti Legal Fellowship Program provides a unique opportunity for a new lawyer to gain experience in the broad spectrum of issues facing public and non-profit entities. UC, as a constitutionally created public institution, employs over 100 attorneys systemwide who provide services from compliance counseling to litigation. Specific areas of practice include affirmative action, constitutional law, contracts, employment, free speech, governance, intellectual property, international research affiliations, public-private partnerships, public and private research collaborations, real estate developments, sexual violence and sexual harassment, student/faculty/staff affairs, and UC's unique status as a constitutionally protected public corporation. Under the supervision of OGC attorneys, the Fellow will conduct legal research; draft documents; attend client meetings, hearings, and negotiations, as appropriate and possible; and participate in other activities intended to expose the Fellow to the practice of law and substance of OGC's specialties. The Fellow would have the opportunity to work both at OGC and at the UC Berkeley Office of Legal Affairs.

    The Principal Counsel, Core Litigation oversees outside counsel and directly handles various types of litigation and adversarial proceedings involving the University. Core Litigation may involve some or all of the following areas of law: direct handling of internal administrative hearings and writ petitions challenging those decisions; proceedings under the California Public Records Act; commercial disputes; consumer class actions; bankruptcy; collections and pursuit of affirmative recoveries; trusts and estates; and third-party subpoenas. The attorney will be involved in all phases of litigation, including trial, appeal, and representation of University witnesses in depositions. The position involves providing advice on legal issues affecting all campuses, medical centers, the Office of the President and the University at-large, including assisting with the development of effective compliance and risk mitigation strategies to facilitate the University's complex operations.
