    ICLC seeks a talented full-time Paralegal / Senior Paralegal for our Lawyers Preventing and Ending Homelessness Project. The project is focused on providing clients who are homeless or at risk for homelessness with a broad range of legal assistance that removes barriers to getting and staying housed. The team’s client community is made up of highly vulnerable individuals including people living with physical and mental disabilities, and people living with HIV. The Paralegal will work closely with clients who are living with HIV and our partner organizations and will bring a whatever-it-takes approach to ending and preventing homelessness.

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced attorney to support our legal team. The Associate General Counsel will report to the General Counsel, and will be responsible for managing a variety of legal matters. The ideal candidate must be resourceful and business-minded, and possess outstanding judgment and emotional intelligence.

    Responsibilities:

    • Draft, review, negotiate contracts, including but not limited to: supplier agreements, licensing and distribution agreements, real estate leases, financing agreements, master services agreements, statements of work, NDAs, and employment-related agreements.
    • Represent the Company in litigation and pre-litigation matters and work with outside counsel as needed.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations including but not limited to USDA, FDA, U.S. Customs/Trade laws, FTC, product labeling requirements, privacy laws.
    • Provide legal advice and support to various departments such as operations, human resources, information technology/information security, e-commerce, and marketing.
    • Formulate standard operating procedures and training materials for various departments.
    • Monitor and prepare for legal and regulatory developments nationwide.
    • Conduct legal research and prepare concise guidance on various legal issues.
    • Assist with intellectual property matters, including trademark registration and enforcement.
    • Manage outside counsel and ensure cost-effective legal representation.


    Minimum Requirements:

    • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
    • Active member in good standing of the California State Bar.
    • Minimum of 8 years of relevant legal experience.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to grapple with complexity.
    • Outstanding judgment, business acumen, and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
    • Efficient, resourceful and able to show initiative.
    • Self-starter who can work independently.
    • Uncompromising professional ethics and commitment to moral integrity.
    • Willingness to learn and accept feedback.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Prior experience at a nationally recognized law firm along with some in-house experience
    • Prior experience advising retail / food / consumer-facing industries
    • Fluent in Mandarin and/or Spanish
